Two Thumbs Up for Confidence in Home Buying Again

Fannie Mae recently released their most recent National Housing Survey Results and two categories reported all-time survey highs!

  • 52% of respondents thought it would be easy for them to get a home mortgage today.
  • 70% of respondents said they would buy if they were going to move.

This is the first time in the history of the National Housing Survey that the share of respondents who said it is easy to get a mortgage surpassed the 50% mark.  The upward trend of this indicator during the last few months is good news for the housing recovery and may be contributing to the increase in the consumers' intention to buy rather than rent their next home.

With home prices projected to increase in 2014 and with mortgage interest rates projected to increase, it is good news that consumers are becoming more confident in their ability to buy a home if they so desire.

When you're ready to buy.....or sell, call me.  I can help.

Boy, would I like to see the respondents to that survey, especially with the tighter standards placed on home buyers

Yes Ed, I agree.  That survey was just taken in January so it will be interesting to see if the positive response stays high in subsequent months.  If it stays anywhere near that I would say it's a great sign of consumer confidence.
